L'Everton Football Club est un club professionnel de footballanglais, basé dans la ville de Liverpool et fondé en 1878.
Le club fait partie des membres fondateurs du championnat anglais, la Football League, en 1888. Il remporte son premier championnat deux saisons plus tard, puis quatre nouveaux titres et deux coupes d'Angleterre entre 1906 et 1939. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il traverse une période sans succès d'une vingtaine d'années avant de gagner deux championnats et une coupe d'Angleterre. Le milieu des années 1980 est la dernière période faste du club avec deux victoires en championnat, une nouvelle coupe d'Angleterre et une coupe d'Europe des vainqueurs de coupe, unique trophée continental du club. Le dernier titre au palmarès d'Everton est une coupe d'Angleterre conquise en 1995.
Everton détient le record du nombre de saisons disputées en première division anglaise (107). Everton a remporté le championnat à neuf reprises, ce qui le place au quatrième rang de la hiérarchie derrière Manchester United, Liverpool et Arsenal[2]. Le club participe à la Premier League de manière constante depuis qu'elle a été mise en place en 1992.

In 1963 they became the first British club to win a major European trophy—the European Cup Winners' Cup.[1] In the 1970s, they won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972 (becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies). In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup 1983–84. In the 1990s, they won the FA Cup and the League Cup. In 2008 they won the League Cup once more, meaning that they have won a trophy in each of the last six decades—an achievement only matched by Manchester United.
